Video

I've been thinking alot lately about the digital video we have to do. As my topic, I picked doing a video on how to frame a pitch in softball. After my many, many years of catching, hopefully it will all go pretty smoothly for me. I wanted to definitely pick something I liked to do and something that was easy for me and I think I was able to do that. I thought about whether I wanted to do my video with just anyone or if I could possibly do it with someone that knows how to pitch. There's a chance I might be able to do it with one of the girls I caught for in high school which I think would be cool. It'll kind of be like an instructional video.

Spring Sports

Every year I'm always anxious for spring to come along because that means there are new sports in season! More importantly, the time when my favorite sports begin. Here at the Rock, we'll now be able to go watch softball, baseball, track, tennis, and lacrosse. It's always nice to know that you've got warm weather coming too! Watching softball really makes me miss it but it's definitely worth it. I've never been to a lacrosse game so I might actually have to get around to doing that this spring. My high school baseball team always played district playoffs here at the Rock stadium. I remember one season we lost in district softball championship up at Meadville then came down to SRU to watch our boys lose their district championship ha. Boy do i miss those days....

New Phone

This past week was my turn to get a new phone on our plan. I talked to someone I know that currently works in the technical support for verizon and got some info about a few phones that were out and the glitches in certain ones. Out of the few I seemed to like, he told me which one he would pick and the ups and downs for all of them. After thinking about it for awhile, I decided to get the LG Voyager. It's the one with the touch screen on the front and flips open like the EV to the QWERTY keyboard on the inside. I've had it for almost a week now and still don't know half the things it can do. For the most part, I really like it but I'm super glad that it does have the option for the keyboard because often times I really get irritated with the touch screen. It seems to take decent quality pictures and videos as well. One downfall I think is the size of the phone, it is kind of bulky but its nice to have the big screen as well. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Backpacking

In outdoor pursuits this week, we started talking about all the things we will need for our backpacking trip at the end of the month. We also talked about all that could go wrong including hypothermia and ways to prevent it. One of the easiest ways is not to wear any cotton and layer yourself accordingly. I'm really worried that it's going to rain just because we all know that we don't want it to, ha! I believe we're going to Allegheny for it. I was astonished when he told us that we'd have to bring our own food because I have no clue what in the world to bring. I usually pack for a week and a half when I'm going somewhere for a weekend so I have no idea how I'll be able to managa packing just enough for a backpack! Either way... I'm kind of excited about it!! :)

Cabaret

For my intro to theatre class, I was required to go and see the musical Cabaret. This was the first time I'd ever really been to a musical other than the ones my high school did. It was so so much different than I thought it was going to be. I was so used to seeing the "PG-Public School" Musicals that it caught me off guard, ha! The plot was like 1930s right before WWII. The actors did very well and although it was a little hard to understand, the play wasn't bad at all and interested me in going and seeing another.

Rock Climbing

Tuesday in my outdoor pursuits class we met at the arc and climbed on the rock wall. It was actually alot of fun and a whole different experience when you are actually belaying someone who is climbing compared to practicing on the ground. The harnesses and belay devices were different from the ones that we used in class so it was a little bit different too. The wall was also set up for a bouldering contest so the difficulty of the wall was more intense at the time in which we went down. This was the first time I'd ever really experienced the whole picture of rock climbing and the "take" part and repelling was alot different than I had thought it would have been. Overall, it was a great experience and I can't wait to see what's ahead in that class. It's a great time!

the webpage is taking over

While only worrying about completing my webpage, I finally remembered that I needed to post a blog. It seems as though all my school work is jam packed into this week. When walking into the library tonight, I saw alot of classmates working on their webpages ha! Typical college kids right there. Has anyone saw Cabaret yet? I'm in intro to theatre and we're required to go see it but I have no clue what it is even about. Both our boys and girls basketball teams came home with a close win today at Clarion so that's pretty awesome. Alright... back to this webpage!

The snow is back... AGAIN?!

I can't believe the snow is back again! It came so quickly too its insane! I can't wait for it to finally be warm out and be able to go outside for once. I'm a sophomore here at SRU and this is the first time I've ever had a blog or even worked with one, so its definitely interesting and I almost completely forgot about it! With this week ahead of me, spring break can not come soon enough!!!
